Default Bigger fuel tank in 1965 mustang

How easy would it be for me to install this 1970 fuel tank into my car if I bought this kit from this site?

I've always wanted more than the stock.

I have never replaced the tank before but would it fit right in?

Anyone who has done this?

you just drop it in and bend the fill tube to fit and the hole on the tank a little and hook it all up done

I have not done this but I understand it is a straight swap.

You do have to modify the fill tube a bit, like rmodel mentioned. I haven't done it, but I've seen a couple posts about problems with the fill tube. I do want to do this to my '67 at some point, so be sure to post progress/completion pics

don't forget the rope caulk between the tank and the trunk floor.

This is what I did to get it in. I used the 69 tank though. The tank bolts right in. Then I bought the 69 filler neck and modified it to fit the tank. Here are some pictures.

MustangOne is over on www.moddedmustangs.com

You could ask him since he is the one that owns that company.

I have been considering the same for my '67 but i am thinking that maybe i will loose clearance on the already small trunk so maybe 20 or 22 gallon , any ideas? (also , keep in mind that you can find gas tanks really cheap on craigslist all day long)

The link is for a 22 gallon tank. Someone asked him about this last week or so and he said it fits flat in the trunk. The forum is down right now so I can't get the link to the thread, but once it gets back up I will post it.
