The block year doesn't matter as long as it's a 302. All you need are standard replacement V8 mounts for your car.

Default help me before I beat the s&^% of of this car. 65 stang putting in a 79 302

I'm trying to put a 79 302 in a 65 mustang. I bought the $100 black brackets and I think I have the right mounts. It will have an AOD tranny. The motor mounts aren't lining up. I;m really close but the aftermarker chrome pan is hitting the centerlink. and the harmonic balencer is sitting on the sway bar.

Was it a v8 before or was it a 6? You will need some frame brackets if it was a six then they actual motor mounts are use to attach the motor to the frame mounts. Are you sure it they are right and left on the right side?

I addressed my thoughts on the engine mounts on your other thread.

For the tranny mount on the 66, I bought stuff I thought (was supposed to) would work as a "bolt on", then cut it up, modified it and rewelded it when it became clear that "bolt on" wasen't in the cards...

There is a bolt in solution I am sure, but I didn't run across it. We should be putting the 302 in the Falcon next week, maybe I will make a "tech thread" out of it...

Not a Mustang, but close enough that EVERYTHING that matters will be the same...

So... I have entirely the wrong thing? I need the ones with the studs? I have the original brackets but I'm missing one of the "L" brackets. Anyone know where I can get an "L" bracket?
