Default Linear or progressive, rate for coil springs? 70 fb

Ok, so I can't seem to find this with a search. I've got a 1970 fastback with a 351C, and I'm looking to replace the front springs. I'll get a 1" drop, but I can't decide on 620 lb vs 540 lb or linear vs progressive.

The car will be a daily driver when its done, but I don't want to completely sacrifice performance.

Any experiences or opinions?

Cheers.

Don't get progressive, use a linear.

540 if you want some performance and a decent ride, 620 if you want more performance with a stiffer ride. 540 is still quite a bit stiffer than factory springs, that were like 270.

in a 70 620's will be a better performance/ride quality especially if you install roller perches, I have cut 620's, roler perches and konis on my 67 vert and it rides and handles great.

I really doubt it rides 'great' with cut 620's and konis. My '67 with 540's, roller peches, and edelbrock shocks ride ok. Not fantastic on bumpy roads, but they handle great. I wouldn't want 620's where I live.

540 linear is your best choice.

A 351C is a heavy beast. JUUUUST did one not two days ago. 750 springs and KYB gas -a-just and almost a little on the soft side compared to a 289-302 with 620 same shock setup. If you don't want to sacrifice performance, you'll be happy with the same. Perfect for a performance oriented daily driver. We also did a shelby drop with roller perches. Handles about as good as any big block can handle without going full tilt.

Thanks, guys. I think I'll go with linear 620's and roller perches and see how she goes from there
