FYI. Early Ford trucks had a underdash pull cable connected to a hood latch. The hood latch is a direct replacement for the '69/70 mustang. Just unbolt and bolt in the truck latch and your are done. I suspect the '69/70 hood latch is interchangeable with earlier mustangs but I'm not sure.

I have not heard of anything getting stolen from under the hood of a vehicle in a long time.... and most of what I ever remember was batteries... (lowriders,,,I am talking about AZ and NM here...)

I remember some other stuff being stolen but damn,,, that was in the 70s and 80s when kids used to drive cars with V-8s... I think there is not much to worry about as long as you are not driving a Honda with a cold air kit...

try to open said hood once, then go to menards and wait a few days and see the car again. pop hood, cut and its open.

you need somethng that can lock the lever in a position so that it cannot release the actual hood latch.

that way they cant even open the hood enough to cut the chain/cable with bolt cutters.

i may have to play around and see about fabricating one at work lol
What your talking about is what I really wanted to do.

The other thing I just thought would keep random people from being able to open it. Most people wont be carrying bolt cutters.

I hadn't really thought about then cutting the chain but at first was more worried about those puny sheetmetal screws that come in the kit. You could just give the hood a few good fast opening attempts and those things would fly.

I really like the idea of a key activated cable under the bumper that prevents the latch from working.

Ez, thats not a bad idea except when there is no one around to use it. That is really what those type of people deserve.
