Remanufactured 390 Engine for a 67
Well, I'm looking into different engines and had a couple of questions for you guys.
#1. How do you guys feel about remanufactured engines in general?
I'm looking at www.hiperformer.com and they have several different engines and offer a 7 Year / 100,000 mile warrenty on the engine.
#2. Will a 390 engine fit into a 67 coupe without modifications?
I know that some 67's came with 390's but I'm not sure if they were coupes. I know there are a lot of things I'll need to replace as I'm running an I6 right now. I just don't want to deal with any mods to the shock towers or anything like that.
Thanks,
Bob

390 engine will fit! However keep in mind of course that you need to use big block motor mounts, also if you are running headers you may need to bang up your shock towers, changing spark plugs and tightening header bolts is next to impossible, it can be done but you need serious patience.

I have a 67 with a 428 engine, FE same dimensions as the 390. If running stock exhast manifolds you are fine, I ran hooker comp headers, and in order for them to fit I had to dent the shock towers on each side, I heated them, banged them up with the hammer, than repainted. It all sounds alot worse than it is! at the end of the day you really need to look hard to see what was done.
