1967 Mustang engine swap Q's
I've had a 1967 coupe that came as a 6 banger for 6 months now, and its not cutting it for me. ive got the new 8" 5 lug rear end/suspension, and new front suspension and steering. ive purchased a 289, got all accessories with it including the radiator. I also need front discs, which i also need bigger spindles for... or should i go back to drums.... its manual braking by the way... so basically I just want to know if i can use the transmission from my 200ci 6 cyl and just get a 289 6-bolt bellhousing. Did 6 cylinder cars come with a c4 originally? how can i tell what type of tranny it is? i really dont want to buy a new one. I also need front discs, which i also need bigger spindles for... thanks for the info in advance

And trans?
I also need front discs,
Why? You racing or just a hot-dog driver like me?
which i also need bigger spindles for...
No, you don't
or should i go back to drums.... its manual braking by the way...
And that's a problem because…? Drums are fine for most driving.
so basically I just want to know if i can use the transmission from my 200ci 6 cyl and just get a 289 6-bolt bellhousing.
You would need a bell and torque converter, and you'd still have the light-duty 6 cylinder version.

Yes, even in 64. A special slip yoke was required in 64-65.

It's a 6-cylinder C4.

No, you don't, on both counts.

so what could i do with the light duty 6 cylinder version? i found a flywheel on cal-mustang but where could i get the torque converter? and how much are they usually? im also still on the hunt for the 6-bolt bellhousing
