Leaf spring install question. Don't kill me :)

Can I remove one leaf at a time and replace it, then move to the other side or do you have to drop both at the same time??? Is that a stupid question?

It's best to use two sets of jackstands. One set under the rear framerails to support the car, and one set under the rear axle. Then you can just unbolt the springs one side at a time and replace them.

I also imagine you could then use the floor jack under the rear end to raise or lower it if you need to align the holes. But definitely use two jacks under the frame rail

Thanks. I was planning on 2 sets of jackstands, Just wanted to button up one side and then move to the other.

Yes, you can do one side at a time.

rmodel65 Aug 26, 2009 01:19 AM

no guy he has to do all 3 sides at once

see what i did thurr /\

kalli Aug 26, 2009 04:06 AM

i actually prefered to do one side after another. it feels safer. the car has still one wheel to stand on ...

2+2GT Aug 26, 2009 05:36 AM

Actually, it's a LOT more work if you do both at the same time. Think about it, if you remove both springs, what's keeping the rear axle on the car…

kalli Aug 26, 2009 05:45 AM

yep. you could use to jackstands under axle and 2 under car. but it's a nightmare. one by one is way better

I agree with the one side at a time method.

I see you made a new sig Kalli. Your car looks great!
