I live in NY,and I looked at a 66 in NJ. It had a "failed" inspection sticker on the window..when I asked about it the guy said it didnt pass emissions, because the state couldnt get the "thing" they shove in the exhaust pipe in because of the louvers on the trumpet exhaust....does this sound correct and could it be possible....in NY they dont do emissions.

I lived in NJ for many years, and the inspection station drones usually had a beef with the tips. Easy fix, they are supposed to put a hose on the tip to isolate it. Find an inspection or re-inspection station not operated by, well, you know.

Frankly, I'm surprised they still sniff 45-year-old cars. PA doesn't sniff cars that old.

It sounds like it's feasible, but I wouldn't think that it would have to be tested given it's age. In any case the failure should have come with a printout of why it failed.

A 66 Mustang has to pass sniffer test there? I can't believe that.
