Default new, and in need of alittle help

ive got a 68Gt500kr, red with white top. Its sitting for the winter now, but i do have it blowing gas out of the top of the carb whenever i try and start it up, it does fire, but with the amount of gas its spewing, i always cut it quickly. It doesn't get started as much as id like to, could it have a gasket problem? idk, any help is appreciated.

As a GT500, it would have a Holley carb. I don't really like Holleys, but that's what the Shelbys had. Sounds like a stuck float to me, too.

I don't know poop about holley, but shouldn't he be able to remove the air cleaner, then completely unscrew the nut (normally the sight window) and reach in with a wire or similar to lift or loosen the floats? Carb cleaner through the same port should loosen things up also, right? Should this eliminate the need to completely pull the carb or bowls?

Yes Groho...I think he can indeed remove the inlet needle without removing anything else..if I recall correctly.

its not hard to pull the bowls off a holley carb. take carb off motor, undo 4 bolts holding it on, gently pry it off.

You could have a stuck needle assembly, they are located on top of each bowl, unscrew them, blow out with compressed air (or with your mouth), or replace with new ones. Screw back in and reset float levels.

Welcome to the forums. Id love to see pics.

I agree with the most likely issue being the floats.
