Default Electric issues with 68

The wiring plug coming from alt to bat was frayed so I wanted to splice but there are 4 wires on one side and 3 on the other? I have looked for diagrams but only find 3 wires coming out of both sides of plug. Also will not charge, tested it at Autozone and it read good diodes low reg replaced voltage regulator, same reading? Any HELP?!

Was the 4th wire inline spliced or doubled at the plug?

maybe not any help, but you could always go with a one wire internal alt. can find them on ebay for under $60.00, direct bolt in.
