Default Power R&P Swap

I want to put a power R&P unit on my 68 fastback. The old linkage is pretty warn out and getting dangerous!!! I was wondering if anybody can recommend a good product at a fair price. Has anybody had any experience with Unisteer???

You could just replace your linkage with new parts for a lot less money.

I have a Unisteer power rack on my car and love it. Its like night and day compared to my old steering and was really easy to install. Didnt have any clearance issues and the holes all lined up perfectly(I know people have complained about that in the past). Overall for the price I think its a good setup.

67Mustang302 makes a good case. That certainly would be cheaper. On the flip side, after I put in a Total Control Products rack and pinion, the car was like a modern car! All of the sloppiness was gone. The rack is based on a Ford Tempo rack. Anyway, I am pleased with the TCP setup.

Keep in mind that many R&P setups do not support headers or manual transmissions do to clearance issues. Check and ask questions like that before you buy. A power TCP R&P will run you around $2500 with hardware and parts you need to complete the system.

We sell the **** outta unisteer. Not sure how I feel about the manual steering with the input at such an angle. But the power works good.

Thanks for the input!!!

I was thinking about swapping the current 289/4speed auto for a 351W with a T5 trans. including headers down the road...will that be possible with a R&P set-up???

Depends on the headers and R&P you use. I'll end up going with TCP's down the road probably, one of the reasons being they designed the linkage between the column and the rack to be as tight as possible to clear headers. But it will also depend on the headers as well.
