I'm not sure what the advantage is other than the brakes are a bit bigger. You lose your emegency brake with this set up right?

Yes you lose your e-brake with this set-up which is not a big deal to me. The calipers I'm using will outperform Versallies calipers by a huge deal. If e-brakes are an absolute must you can do a similar set-up using metric calipers with e-brake for about $40 more.

I believe the old and new style bearing ends have different spacing between bolts.

Ok so if I were to go with this set up on the rear and the matching conversion on the front, which master cylinder would I use, the one for the maverick is either drum/drum or disk/drum and would put a drag on the rear, correct?

I have hears a master cylinder from an SVO mutang accomodates 4 wheel disk brakes quite well.
