So i replaced my LCA's
i noticed that the tires have been wearing rapidly. Also the front springs have settled a lot since i bought the car. So I took it to the best alignment shop in the state and they said that i needed new LCA bushings and strut rod bushings.
SO i bought them and installed them. And guess what? Myu springs didnt settle. the car now sits 1.25" high than it was before. Which is good because now i dont scrap on every speed bump. However, now the tires look too small. I ended going with 225 40 17s when i had to replace them because they were rubbing a little. The car rides fantastic, corners better and feels 100% more solid. Just cant wait until my brand new front tires wear out so i can get a better fitting tire. |
Neither one of those parts will affect the ride height of the car so I'm not really sure what to tell you. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Unless it was because you had the car on jack stands for a while, in that case, the springs will re-settle after some miles of driving. the only things that should affect your front ride height are the springs and upper control arm location |
I understand.
If the wheels were hanging when you torqued the inner end of the LCA, you now have significant torque holding up the front end. Without jacking the car, crawl under there and loosen, then re-torque, the inner end bolts. |
But he took it for an alignment, they would have had to loosen them to adjust the camber.

actually it was the alignment shop that told him he needed new LCA's (based on his post) MonsterBilly, did you take it back to the alignment shop after installing them? I think we are assuming you did, but if you haven't yet then it may be what 2+2GT said

i think that that the strut bushings also had something to do with it. Once i initially put the car together about 1.5 years ago i noticed that the strut bushings seemed to not fit correctly. So when the new ones arrived I noticed that they did not match the ones that were there. the bushings that were on there were the wrong ones.
i think that the spindle must have been at the wrong angle which would have added to the situation. but regardless of why the car now higher it rides and handels better than ever. |

Without jacking the car, crawl under there and loosen, then re-torque, the inner end bolts. If you don't do this, you will hear a loud pop when you hit a bump. That is the sound of the lower control arm bushing spinning to its proper location. If it never pops it will wear out real fast. |
I will head over there tomorrow and loosen up the bolt a little and see what happens
