Crutchfield, Pep Boys and other places. It's just a universal DIN enclosure. I painted it and mounted the front lip with 2 screws and the rear is hung with support strap.

another option is to mount the head unit, receiver and cd player in the trunk, adn than control it using a remote in the car.

I hate the glovebox mounted radio setup. You cant see it or reach it. I just don't understand that one. I would put it in or under the dash etc.

I originally wanted to get the repair panel and one of those retro type stereos, but I keep hearing bad things about them. My dash was already cut up for a cheapo tape deck, so I just cut it a little more and put a regular CD player in it.

The universal DIN enclosure are used a lot in street rods anywhere that sells stereo stuff or street rod stuff should carry it.And if you don't want a radio in the stock hole there is a Shelby radio delete panel most part houses sell.

My dash is also cut up not sure for what because I can still mount a stock radio.... Almost feel like I should just finish cutting and put a new radio although not sure how you mount such a thing? Either that or radio delete panel and use a din underneath

If your dash is already cut and you don't mind cutting it i would cut it.The new radio should come with a mounting cage that you mount to the dash rest is just wiring.
