Help!! Rounded spark plug
#21
Have you tried using a bolt extractor? These work amazing on rounded bolts and don't see why it wont work on the spark plug, just as long as you can get it in there.

The bolt extractors work better then the gator because the harder you twist the more it grips into the head so it's less likely to slip. I would give it a try before taking the head off because thats more work then you really need to do if that will get it out.

Are you using a six point socket?A six point should grab a rounded plug, but it sounds too far gone. I am wondering if the plug is cross threaded and if that's the case it would never come out.
If you do get something to finally grab it adequately get some help and a breaker bar or a length of pipe.

I am about sure that a six point socket (and/or a good quality socket) would have saved you the grief to start with....
Buy the right tool and buy good tools.... , ouch...

On a few other cars I have worked on the plugs were so rusted that when i put the socket on it the hex part just broke off. What I was able to do was hammer a t55 or 50 torques bit into it and heat the head up enough that i could turn it out. I would try an easy out or something similiar before I would remove the head.

How about a decal that sais "V7 Powered"
Solves the problem and confuses everyone at the shows
Sorry for the unproductive post, you need to pull the head.
You could try to drill through it, use a reverse thread tap and toss in a bolt. You would get some crap in the cyl doing this....enivadbly you be pulling the head.
