Default found a t5 for my 351w but have ?'s please help

i found a car for $400 that has a non-running 5.0 engine from a early 90's t-bird (needs wiring) and its mated to a t5 trans from a 83 5.0 mustang 4bbl. it has a new clutch kit and flywheel installed too. will i be able to use the clutch kit and flywheel that is installed on the 5.0 on my stock 351w? i thought of using the 5.0 engine but would rather have the displacement and stronger block. also will the stock t5 trans be ok with the extra torque from my 351w? so since i will have this trans with a new clutch kit and flywheel and bellhousing along with a hurst shifter what else will i need for my c4-t5 swap besides the clutch pedal?

that t5 is a non-world-class and is rated for 265 lbs of torque. as long as you don't exceed that with your 351w and don't run it hard, it should hold up. the major difference between the WC and non-WC is bearings vs. bushings and synchro design.

PROBLEM..... The 5.0 as a 50 in oz balance weight on the flywheel and the 351W has the 28 in oz on it. Have to change flywheels. Like jcoby said, just don't keep the pedal down all the time and you SHOULD be safe. I have a couple friend with stock t-5's just cruising and they are fine.

My advice: Don't do a t-5. I was in a similar situation where i wasn't sure whether to get a t-5 or a 4speed top loader. I went top loader for 2 reasons: they're stronger and ADD value to your car. Too much torque/hp will brake a t-5 easily. With that said, Its really up to you and if you want a t-5 and nothing else go for it. It's your car u should have what YOU want. So I would recommend the world class like everyone else. If you are interested in top loader, go wide ratio.

I didn't go toploader for 2 reasons.

1) Im not drag racing
2) my C4 already has a 1:1 final gear ratio lots of work for zero gain (why take a crap twice)

I suggest looking for a WC t5 or have modern drive line build you a Z spec...OR get a TKO if your 351 is going to be high torque.

tko? Z spec? how much torque do those handle? this will be high torque because the set up im looking to build i got from somebody else who's 408w made 534hp and 528tq at the fly but i want 500whp and torque right around that. i was planing on building the t5 when the time came but i would rather buy the correct thing the first time.

Z spec wont cut it with that much torque.

What are you going to do with this car? How will it be driven, how often?

The toploader may indeed be a good choice for you depending on your rear end gear and driving habits...but then perhaps a built c4 would also be an option.

The TKO 600 would be good if you want something like the t5.. The TKO 600 will handle the 500+ tq if I recall correctly.
