Finally got some paint on the car
Father son project getting close to being finished. Sprayed it on our barn this weekend. 2008 Mustang Vista Blue metallic. Came out pretty clean for a barn paint job. Still needs to be color sanded and polished but it came out pretty good. Lighting in the barn isn't the best but it looks awesome in the sunlight. Have two weekends to finish putting it back together before the big classic car cruise on our downtown. Every year they close the downtown streets and only allow vintage cars to cruise. Should be a pretty cool drive for a 16 year old.

wow, great job! exactly how i want my 66 with maybe a different shade of blue. are those stripes tapered like the shelby stripes or straight all the way back? and if i may whats their width? and id be very proud to be 16 with that car!

Stripes are tapered. You can get the dimensions easily by googling shelby stripes for a 65 mustang. If you don't taper them they look horrible. Thanks for the comments. We have a lot of work into this thing. Disc brakes, three point seatbelts, etc. etc. Looking forward to getting it on the road.

Sorry for the dumb question but what do you mean by the stripes being tapered? Do you mean they are more narrow at the bottom? Just curious. I just bought a 66 coupe white with blue stripes. I'll post some pictures of it today on here.

No worries-not a dumb question. If you didn't know it you wouldn't know the stripes are tapered because they look straight. The stripes follow the body lines and that makes them appear straight. When people paint them without tapering them they look "blocky" for lack of a better word. We used Dupont Nason paint. A little less expensive than the regular Dupont but still pretty good. Base (blue and white) and clear, with reducer, activator, etc. was about $700. This is the second car I have painted but the last one was a long time ago.
