69-70 rocker panel question
Hi guys. Been absent for quite a while because life got in the way of my restoration. Anyway I am back at it and have a question. I replaced the rocker panels way back when on my 1970 Fastback and I am thinking that the reproduction rockers are not right. The edge of the rocker where it meets the bottom of the door has a curve to it. It curves outward near the middle of the door opening and comes back in at the front and rear. I would think that it is supposed to be straight, but I don't have the old rockers to compare and the doors have been re-skinned. I can either bow out the bottom of the door or fix shape of the rocker, but I don't know which one is right. Can one of you guys with a 69/70 tell me if they are supposed to be straight, which I think they are.
Thank You,
John B.
EDIT: Oh. forgot to say that the inside edge of the outer rocker where it is welded to the inner rocker is straight as an arrow, so the bow is formed into the rocker which is why I am questioning it.
Thank You,

I just checked mine. They are on a Mach 1 and I know they have never been replaced or damaged. They are straight as an arrow where the Mach 1 cladding attaches at the top of the rocker. I didn't have a straight edge but I laid a 1x4 against it.

Yeah. Mine was a typical north Midwestern car eaten by years of road salt and neglect. Lots of new metal including from front to back, taillight panel, quarters, trunk floors, rear frame rails, inner and outer rockers, floors, door skins, fenders, lower firewall, and all the main structure forward of the firewall. I had it on a rotisserie and got it looking like a car again, then the wife decided she wanted a new house, had to build that and then a shop and get it set up. But now I'm back in business and determined to get this car on the road again this year.

That sounds way beyond my ability level. Mine had one patch to the drivers floor, tail light panel and rear trunk floor. The rest was really straight and solid. I was given a 70 fastback back in the day that we scrapped due to rust. The rear quarters were no longer attached to the body or the trunk. I guess it would be a saver today. The only thing I saved was the glass, wheels and various brackets. Oh and the steering column.
