Carb to EFI
I have a 5.0 ready to go with fuel injection. Basically i want to know if anyone has any good threads or websites that would show me how to make my 64.5 into a EFI car and bout how hard/much would it cost to do it if i got all the parts off an old 5.0. Also im on a budget but i think EFI is the better choice.

One kit that you could get is FAST has the new EZ EFI that bolts on like a carburetor to a carb intake. It's a really slick TBI setup with self learning adaptive algorithms(like on newer cars) and the whole kit with the fuel ump and lines etc is like $2,200. I'd go that route if the budget allows. Otherwise yeah, junkyard donor parts and follow what James has listed. Be careful of firing orders though, HO computers need HO firing orders to work. And non HO computers need non HO firing orders.

That FAST setup will outperform most factory fuel injections and it tunes itself over time, so you ain't gotta get it dyno tuned, which also makes changing the tune easy. Throttle body injection is what is used on Formula 1 cars, and FAST makes some of the best EFI stuff out there. It's simpler and easier to use, and will make excellent power, but will have a higher cost than a factory donor setup. It comes down to how much you're willing/have to spend. You should check out their XFI....that's a crazy awesome EFI, but it's retardedly expensive. The price of XFI has come way down, but it's still like $4,300 for a kit, and you need to tune it.

I have installed a couple of Classic FAST, FAST XFI and now a Big Stuff 3, and I recommend any of them for someone looking to keep upgrading there setup with more power parts. If you're going to keep the same setup after you install it and not change too much then the best way to go is a stock EFI with a MASS air flow meter setup from a Automatic fox mustang, the auto has a more aggressive fuel map.

im piecing together my setup, which so far is a trickflow intake, bbk TB and factory heads/cam.. I wasnt worried about the tune because i had planned for some dyno time, but maybe this is the way to go if it comes with injectors and lines and all that... maybe i should take a look
..car came with a parker intake that would barely clear the hood without a carb, haha..

The FAST EZ EFI has 2 kits, the base EFI kit, and the Master kit that has the whole EFI setup plus the fuel system. The Master kit is around $2,200. It has 4 88lb/hr injectors built into the throttle body that spray fuel below the butterflies straight into the plenum. Plus all the sensors, wiring harness, tuning module etc. It's complete. And it's self tuning....give it some basic parameters and start it up, and it will create a copy of the base map it pre loads and then continually rewrite the data in that map until it has a dead nuts fuel map. It does NOT control spark though, just so you know. It's kinda like a carburetor setup, only the fueling is computer controlled.
That's what I'll eventually go with, has a good mix of carburetor advantages, EFI advantages, and cost. Plus the thing tunes itself so there's no messing around trying to get it to run right.
