351c Exhaust?

351c Exhaust?
I'm getting closer to choose my exhaust set up for the Mach 1. I am thinking of going with 2.25 or 2.5 exhaust with a custom X pipe and 2 Super 44's. Has anyone run this or a similar set up with a 351C? Just curious to hear the good and bad reviews and maybe even a sound clip if possible. Thanks in advance for help/opinions.

is your 351 modded?
to what extent?
smaller pipe gives a higher velocity flow of exhaust gases = crisper sound. 2.25 will be cheaper and easier to fit and sufficient up to say 400hp (there will be arguments about the actual hp amount but thats been my experience).
so, for mine, mild street motor gets the smaller pipes. but... if you have plans for significant amounts of hp, 2.5 will be a better option.

Do you have headers? Long tube or shortys?
I got 44s on a mostly stock engine, stock manifold, H-pipe and 2.25". It sounds like a mellow rumble at idle and some drone at speed. Headers would probably drown it out though. If you have headers (most likely if you're at 500hp) it will probably sound alot different. I read that X-pipe sounds different than H-pipe too.

I'm glad you decided on factory type tips. That will look great.
I would go with 2.5 inch exhaust since you have close to 500 hp.
I would go with H pipe, it sounds far better than the X. It has a deeper more mellow sound. I'll never have an X pipe on mine. The H is easier to fit as well. The difference in power between H and X is not enought to notice from my experience. I will say this though. Have an exhaust shop make your exhaust system. Most of the prefab stuff fits multiple years and does not fit all that great.
I have to ask though, why Flowmaster? They sound hollow, drone, etc and don't even flow as good as straight through mufflers. I would go with Dynomax Race Bullets or Ultraflo, or Magnaflow. I had dronemaster on mine when I first got it running and could not stand them they resonated so bad.

Ok so i think I'm going with the 2.5" since everyone seems to be on the same page with that, and it makes sense. As for going for Flowmasters its just a personal preference, and I've always liked the sound, although I've never heard the super 44's in person. One of the reasons why i was asking. Also i was talking to a buddy of mine today and he said the H pipe IS a better way to go. Its cheaper, does the same thing, and can even sound better. So i am going to go with 2.5" pipe and an H pipe, but i am still undecided on the mufflers. Thanks again for all of the replies guys, appreciate the input.

When I bought my car it was straight pipes (no crossover whatsoever) off of exhaust manifolds and I thought it was loud and obnoxious as hell. After I intalled Hooker long tubes I had a 2.5 inch exhaust with custom x-pipe and dynomax mufflers put on and I liked the sound quite a bit. It was unique with a nice rumble (more or less quiet in the car) with a nice bark when you let off of the throttle. It was not to loud but loud enough.
