Stroker kit 69 302

Im new to mustangs and am thinking about buy and fixing up a 1969 Mustang 302. I was wondering if i could increase the hp by adding a stoker kit. If not what else could i do? What would it cost and what results would i get out of it.

whatever you want to do can be done...limited only by the size of your bank account!
302s are commonly stroked to 331 or 347. what do you want to use the car for?

if you go for more hp you'll need better suspension, brakes and driveline to handle it.

A 302 can be built to get good numbers. On a recent Horsepower tv show they got over 400 horse out of one on the dyno. Big cam, decent heads and raising the compression makes a big difference. They spent 3000 bucks on it to boot. Pretty cool.

Aussie asked the key question; what are you going to do with it?

Answering this question is mandatory in order to build the motor AND car correctly. If you just want some added torque to make it more fun on the street, then there are relatively inexpensive stroker kits that will accomplish this with a cast crank and hypereutectic pistons. If OTOH you want a serious race piece, plan on forged crank and pistons for a lot more money.

As thunder pointed out a 302 (306) can be plenty potent in a lightweight Mustang and without the stroker portion of the budget.

enjoy
