ya :-) edelbrock ->holley->speed demon.
i sold the edelbrock (was constantly running out of fuel when flooring it, but that was rather pump related. needles stuck few times, causing the engine to flood with petrol). twice was enough, then i removed it.
The holley 570 SAV is for sale now. sweet carb. It ran fantastic on stock 289 with just intake. not so happy with this engine. Someone with a 305 chevy said he might be interested. would have bought a quickfuel for myself, but since the demon was locally for sale 2nd hand I went for that
I just had a listen, yes the idle is quite high. performer rpm cam specs are very similar to the 268xe that I have. Can't make out a rythm in yours since idle is so high. It sounds sweet at idle, but i'm looking for something that sounds a bit less truck-ish. i wanted to replace them and I'll have a set of mufflers in my next summit order. I'm still undecided. still looking (hearing) around. flowmaster 44s are nice. more deeper rumble than my 40s

I need to get a better sound clip of mine. All of my friends and my Dad think it sounds better now than it did before. I don't think it sounds truckish at all. I think it sounds like old school muscle kinda like Bullitt. I would not get any chambered muffler. The 44 sounds almost the same as the 40. It still sounds hollow. I actually think Flowmaster sounds more like a truck.

I think you may want to consider Magnaflow. It sounds really good too. It also is a good stainless muffler.

sounds good to me, frankly I love the comp 268h cam to this day its still a great grind, I'm guessing you are rich at idle and its loading up, I'd advance the timing a couple degrees and reset your idle and you may have too much pump shot, I had that problem with the same cam in a 351w, when I leaned it out the cam loped much more at idle but when it was rich it idled much smoother and it stunk like fuel bad, once I switched to efi it took care of it. You may want to slightly open the secondary throttle blades and I mean slightly to add more idle air. If you have a speed demon with idle-ez open it up a bit.

Sounds good Kalli. What idle air bleeds are you running? I would go up a few sizes until you can keep the 1 1/2 turns out.

htwheelz: i'm nearly fully out with the idle idle-ez. i'll have to re-check, maybe just that my screwdriver got stuck in there.

valley: all stock bleeds, the demons have that idle ez, where you can add air in the middle of the carb using a screw. the last time I tuned it I started with the four mixture screws one and a half turns out. but even with the idle-ez all open it's way too rich. I believe since I have twice the amount of idle screws I should rather be at 3/4 turn with each of them instead of one and a half. i'm out about one on each and it's still rich. either rich in idle and have streetability or lean and it's bogging ... so rich it is
but I'm not giving up just yet. I'll keep playing with it till it's right. Car drives great at the moment and WOT seems perfect and powerful. Just when i stop i get to smell my own car :-)
biggest mistake i made was to only adjust the primary idle speed screw. so I'll start over with them equal open at all times (pimary and secondary)
