One thing I do not understad is why people paint the car prior to puttin in and on all the mechanical suff including the interior. To me it seems reverse loigc in that he body would likely get banged up during that pocess. I would cry like a baby if I did all that work and have a perfect body then scratch or ding it while reassebling the car. Maybe someone out there can enlighten me on this bcause I have alwas done the paint last, then put on trim, bumpers and moldings.

Several reasons:

No overspray on engine, interior, etc. (masking is not always effective)

You get a more factory looking job if the paint is done before any mouldings or trim is installed.

And I take just as much care now not to scratch my car than as I did when I was reassembling it.

I just gotta say, I've had a crazy year so I had to take some time off from my Coupe. This thread keeps me going. I've read through it several times! You've given me so many ideas and tips for my project! I know the finish is near and I am selfishly saddened by that! When Eleanor is finished, you guys will need to start another project right away so we can continue being inspired and amazed!

Don't worry, we have a long ways till Eleanor is ready to cruise! I'm happy to hear it has helped you with your build. Here is the link to another project we've been working on if you'd like to follow.

NoReigns,

Found a couch for you and your hubby to relax on in between all your projects while you wait for your car to get done with paint.

Lol 69fb I love it!!! That is awesome.

Well we are still having some issues with the new oil pan not clearing the rack so we continue to wait for anymore assembly. He started wet sanding the nose in the meantime and sent me this picture.
