Marc, I've got my 351w oil pan down at the barn, I'll see if that little rubber seal is still in it tomorrow, otherwise I'm just as lost as you are as far as what way to put it in!

And MustangFTW I'll keep that in mind, haha

If I get up early enough I can check on that gasket. I've got my block in the garage and my pan is in the attic.

Well I just tested mine and it seemed to actually be on the hump, not on the flat sides around it. But I could have positioned it wrong since I'm getting ready for school and didn't really have time to sit down and mess with it.

OK I messed up my 4 piece seal that I first bought. So I picked up a new 1 piece rubber seal. So I need some help.

If I line up the holes I get this picture:

So do I line it up on 1-2-3, please advise:

I appreciate all help that people are able to give me.

Thanks

Look at the timing cover and rear main cap. Note the gooves in each and the spot for the seal tabs. There is only 1 place to put it unless you are a square peg in a round hole kinda guy.

Please don't be offended by this. Is your oil pump pickup screen on the oil pump. Is it the right pickup for the pan? Is your pan clean?

Will the screen be the right distance away from the pan and will it stay that way?

So I jack the engine up...... put jack stands under the engine mounts..... go to put the oil pan in.... and BAM!!! Run into two lugnuts.

Here's a picture:

HELP!! Please tell me there is an easy way to get this oil pan in. I have NEVER had this much trouble with an oil pan installation before.

Thanks.

try putting the part in the picture in before the other end. its like the battery cover on a TV remote probably need to slide one end in first before the other.
