Is it possible to install a rack and pinion without removing the engine?

I'm thinking of getting the TCP rack and pinion (im open to alternatives, suggestions please) but my car is a daily driver so i cant be without it for more than a couple of days. has anyone done this installation? how hard and how long would it take?

Jim installed his with the engine out, but I don't see ANY issues to installing it with the engine in. Might need to drop the left exhaust (in and out etc. ) to get the steering shaft right, but it should be easy enough.

I havent read that anybody had to pull their engine to install and ive been doing a lot of research on this subject. I will be buying the unisteer system. Ive looked at rebuilding my box and buying idler arm. And for not much more unisteer replaces all of this with rack. Ive read a lot that says once they installed the unisteer system they dont feel they need power steering.

Actually, it is preferred, not just possible.
A weekend is too much unless something interferes like headers, and don't forget alignment.

Just so you know TCP is in my backyard, ie the town where i live, in case you need me to go over there and check up on them as they build your setup, lol.

Before you start unbolting stuff, make sure that you have EVERYTHING that you'll need, down to the last bolt, nut, cotter pin, and tool.

It's amazing how much time you can lose making repeated trips to the parts store for stuff you didn't think of or did but forgot about on the previous trip.

I installed Unisteer new design manual rack in 67 mustang 2010.
I did not remove engine.
I did not remove header.
Z bar ok.
I removed OEM long shaft box w/o cutting shaft.

My jeg "67" kit came w/ 65 6cyl and 65 8 cyl tie rod ends but no 67 tie rod ends. Unisteer sent correct 67 tie rod ends at no charge.

So I argree to verify every part is in hand ASAP.

Take your time to make sure no u joint binding.

Yes, learned the hard way when replacing the carburator. 15 blocks one way and i had to make 2 trips walking in snow.
