Question offenhauser intake or edelbrock performer intake

i just picked up an engine with a offenhauser intake on it, i was going to use my performer intake on the new engine but wanted feed back on the offenhauser intake if anyone has used one before.

If the Offenhauser is a dual port intake don't use it. As long as you are not planning on spinning the engine faster than 5500 rpm the Performer intake will be fine.

Even a standard performer will perform beyond the listed rpm range. Just not optimally when compared to a bigger intake.

But yeah, I've heard of issues with the Offy Dual port, but never heard enough from enough people to know clearly one way or the other. Edelbrock intakes on the other hand pretty much are the tried and true staple crop of carb'd intakes.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/OFY-5883/ this is the one i have, not the dual port type of intake i haven't found any performance stats on this one.

I wouldn't hesitate to use either one for 4000rpm performance goal and good low end torque. Guess you already googled for test data.

Interesting offenhauser planes communicate but edebrock doesn't.

I would make sure intake gasket blocks exhaust crossover port.

That Offy intake is a hydrid single plane. It's like a single plane in that it's 360*(not 180 like dual planes) but the plenum is semi divided with a cut down divider and it's low rise. So basically it's not optimized for any type of engine setup(low rpm, high, mid range) and is not good at anything, but not entirely bad at anything either.

You'd be better off performance wise with the appropriate manifold for what you're running. I'm also not sure when the last time any of Offys intake designs were updated....perhaps decades.
