Questions about a 351w in a 1965 fastback
Ok so I bought the Hedman Ceramic Long Tube Headers pn: 88666, they look way nicer than my old Hooker Comps did, even when new. I haven't installed the headers yet, as I haven't had a day off in a couple weeks and I've heard that it takes a couple hours per header. So I found out why they don't recommend breaking an engine in with ceramic headers... it's because of the extreme heat a new motor can put off and it can damage the ceramic coating... supposedly. I guess I just have a couple questions: 1. How can I fix the motor mount sag? The engine sags about .5" to the right side, I have early 1965 mounts that are new. Can I put a spacer of some kind between the mount and the frame to make it more level? 2. It says in the instructions that I need the car jacked up at least 36 inches off the ground and then jack the engine up a few inches from there to get the headers in and then drop the motor back down onto the mounts... does 36+ inches seem a bit high to anyone? I don't have a car hoist or anything and it seems to me like a car being 36 inches off the ground would be dangerous? 3. I've heard some people recommend torque straps with the early 65 motor mounts and it being an early model mustang... any input on those? It'll be putting out about 400+ hp and 375 ft./lbs of torque. Thanks a lot Guys for all of your answers and support!
