Buying a 1968 Fastback, a little worried about the seller.

Looks clean to me.
The guy wanting cash is no big deal. Check the VIN with your insurance, examine the title, get a signed bill of sale and have a witness with you when you fork over the dough.
It looks like he's selling it from his own driveway which is a good sigh things are legit. Dogs don't sh** where they eat.

Shawn it looks clean. I agree with everyone here have your insurance run the VIN. I'd see about getting a bill of sell notarized (since a lot of states do not require a title on older cars). Not sure what you are paying but I did over 14k in cash. I was nervous because I had never had that kind of money in cash on me at one time. If you have a friend that is a mechanic have them go and look at the car.
From experience (and you can look my build thread up) sometimes you do not get what you pay for. I was sold my car as a rust free vehicle. I think everyone here will agree with me when you're talking about cars these old that's like saying you found a unicorn. Could it really happen? sure. But it's like winning the lottery.
I think it looks good and as stated he's selling it from his driveway and not a supermarket parking lot.

I would easily pay $20k for that car as it sits.
For rust areas, look at the quarter panel behind the rear tires on both sides. Rain leaks into the trunk into the side pockets in the trunk (look there as well) and rusts through the rear panels. Look in the cowls for excess leaves and crud, that can build up and eventually rust. A sure sign would be asking him if his feet get wet when it rains. Also check behind the front shock perches. Leaves and junk can build up in there.
Otherwise it looks pretty solid. An awesome project starter car. I'm suprised to see that it's still for sale, unless he's asking for like $30k for it. In that case he'd probably still get 30 eventually.
