Default Vapors and gasoline fumes

I parked my new '67 in a closed garage until I returned from Iraq. I emptied 5 cans of WD-40 throughout the underside, the engine, suspension, and chrome trim. As a result, it smells very strong in the confined garage and the smell extends into the house. I am not sure how it smells, but my family describes it as gasoline. Could it be a gasoline vapor leak somewhere that my son can check? I already told them to first open the garage door before cranking the engine. But I really thing is the stink of the WD-40 mixed with the scum and grease of the dirty engine. Thanks for any suggestions.

Man, I'm not sure, but you don't want that smell in your house for your wife/kids to breathe. I suggest you have them start it every other week and drive it around until it reaches full operating temperature. Is/was it full of gas when you left it? A partial tank will have more vapors than a full tank. Tell them to leave the garage open every so often and use a box fan or something to get the smell out. HTH!

Have them crack open any windows, open the garage door and clean up any puddles under the car. Air that place out. WD40 evaporates and is flammable.

Air that place out! The vapors, gas and the brake cleaner, will evaporate in a few days if allowed exposure to air.
