Would appreciate some suggestions for this car. Cosmetically it's beautiful and has a built 302 Boss so it's pretty fast. However the suspension is still stock. Would like to make it to handle nice. Was originally a 6cyl car before dropping in 302.

I see a lot of kits on the market but not sure which ones are for me? Would also like 4 wheel disk brake upgrade.

What do you plan on doing with the car? Track car? Occasional track car? Street Only? Quarter mile? just want a good cruiser for cruise night, shows and road trips?

What do you plan on spending to do this? Suspension mod can range from 500 to 5000 depending on how exotic you want to go.

What do you plan on doing yourself? Is this a self installed garage task or a take to a shop and turn them loose job? Are you mechanically proficient? Have / Can weld?

Give us a little more insight and the recommendations will be much more specific to your needs.

James is right, give more parameters to work in, will make it a lot easier to make suggestions closer to what you're looking for.

Does it still have all the 6cyl. steering/suspension? 6cyl. spindles/drums/4 lug?

Unless you're heavy into opentrack racing the rear discs will be overkill, focus on front for street/weekend warrior.

So is the engine one of the rare original Boss 302 blocks with 351C heads (guessing value ~$20K+?)

Just want a good cruiser for shows and would like to take road trips. Plan on self installing if possible. Not an expert but fairly capable. If not maybe someone knows of a trustworthy shop in my area? The car is within 120 mi of the Dallas.

Cruising and road trips require driving. If you are planning to drive the car at all, you should do the "drop". The only expertise required is ability to rent a spring compressor and drill four holes. If it helps, anyone who can do a wheel alignment on this car can do the drop in a couple hours. The improvement in handling is impressive, even if you do no other mods.In a Mustang with a BOSS 302, or even a regular 302, you need this.

1" upper arm drop, stiffer springs and shocks, rebuilt stock suspension. You can do mild road racing with that setup, it's more than enough for 99% of street Mustangs.

You can also install boxed control arms with bearings. Tubular suspension isn't needed until you start running on racing slicks, then you get into spindle upgrades, full cages etc.
