Default Does anyone want to know how to convert a carb?

With the price of gas these days, I was wondering if anyone wanted to make the switch to E85. I can show you how, I have had my 70 GTO running it since 07, and it also runs in my two 98 Pontiacs. The 67 Cougar is going to run it as well, possibly with EFI.

I dont want to argue about if it is bad or whatever. It hasnt hurt anything on my GTO, and its a stock fuel system as far as lines, hoses, and the tank. So just save the negative comments, this isnt about that. I make ethanol for my cars so I know how to make them run on it.

Here the price of 87 octane is $4.29, E85 is only $3.25, and premium is pushing $4.50. The difference in mileage isnt that big, it is not 50% worse like with methanol, and if you are running lots of compression you wont lose much if any.

If you want to know how, I will show you. If you dont want to that is ok too, I wont post anything about it in that event. Lots of people believe the negative stuff about it with no first hand experience, so I will not argue nor fight with anyone about it. I merely offer information if you want it.

While I wish I could get gas that didn't have any ethanol in it, this sounds like a not so bad idea. I bet some people with daily drivers would be interested.

I'm kinda curious to know what all it takes to do this.

Hi Thumpin! I remember us talking about this a year back.
Seems you are very successful with the conversion.
Although I'd love to do it there's not enough petrol stations around carrying E85 :-(
they are the only ones carrying it. ~30 in the country and only 4 in my county

Highly interested, but not an option :-(

Not in CA, that's for sure. Everything here is E10 *grumble*

maybe you're lucky, but i guess you'd need to re-tune if you keep changing

I've heard that docks carry ethanol-free gas for boats. You can get a tester as well. I know the aircraft and boat places carry them.

The ethanol percentage has been steadily creeping up past its rating too. I've heard that E10 can go as high as 15%

I want to know, please share.

On the ethanol in our gas note, I understand that premium gas has less or no ethanol. I can't remember my source, but I remember the arguements being convincing to me at least. I could be completely wrong, maybe someone else has more information.
