WHAT TYPE / SIZE CAM 302 ROLLER

i recently got a 67 with a 302 roller motor in it. It already has edelbrock rpm aluminum heads (new) 600 carb and performer intake but it came with a stock cam. Its got good high end power but seems to lack low end torque / take off ability any sugestions on a cam maybe and or other things i can try to make this pony snort without going overboard. It has a nine inch rear and c4 tranny also. Just thought a cam would be the way to go or should i just be grateful it runs at all...lol

What ratio is the diff?

emttrevor 05-13-2011 09:38 PM

yeh maybe beyond my budget though i was looking more at something like an f303 or e303 or maybe sticking with edelbrock and getting an rpm cam just not sue which would be the best Im not looking at top end speed so much I want the tire spinning quick of the mark type with a bi of a rough idle but more than that i dont want to have to rebuild the motor every six months cause ive gone too hot

not sure on that one at this stage havent been able to get the inch of gunk off the diff housing to look

car in neutral, roll the car forward so the wheels do exactly one turn (use valve as reference point) while someone counts the turns the driveshaft is doing. the amount of turns is your ratio
... and what cam is in there now. why feel the need to change?

Ill try that thanks.. Mainly I guess I wanted a rough idle and about another 20-40hp if poss

A alphabet cam will still cost you at least $100-150 and they're old crappy cams. A custom grind from Ed will cost you $325 for a hyd roller, and it will be specific to YOUR car, ideal for what you want, and you get free tech help from Ed whenever he can answer emails.

i struggled to get any technical response to my questions from ed and i have no idea of how mild or aggressive the cam will be.

i'm always confused how everyone seems to get such great service. perhaps it's because i filled out the full tech sheet?
