I agree!!! That is one beautiful ride! How does the rest of the car look? If it drives and looks inside and underneath as good as it does on the outside....then you have one hot car. Very very nice car! That car screams, "I'm from the 70s!"

Times have changed, this was an old common 1980s opinion. 71-73 are going way up in value, probably because they're getting so rare. Nobody restored them in the 80s because of that attitude, so now the 71-73s are rare and the earlier models are way too common. Look at Mustang shows, there's rows and rows of 65-70s and hardly any 71-73s.
About a month ago at Mecum Auctions I saw three 71s in a row go on the block for good money:
A restored 71 Mach1 with 429--$46K
A unrestored 71 Boss 351 ---$46K
And the surprise, a show quality restored 71 Mach1 with 351---$47K

My point was not the 429 price, but that the 351 Mach1 sold for MORE $$$
than the Boss or 429.

You are so right. For less than 3K you can have a 450hp fire breather in a 351C and so many transmission options. I see them restored in the mid to high 20s all of the time and to be honest, anything newer then a 69 is just too damn small.

the rest of the car has no problems at all. the floor pans are rust free and solid. no rust at all on my mustang because shes always been garage kept! one thing i'd really like to do is to put something ( not sure what yet) on my engine to make her crank out at least 500 hp, itd be pretty sweet riding around town with that power any suggestions?

I've actually been to Mecum and saw alot of average Joes there too.
It's a great way to sell a nice car, and there can be many bargains there too.
