Default Has anyone done the rack and pinion upgrade?

I am thinking of making this one of my long term projects for my 68 and I was curious if anyone has any experience with it. If so, how did it go? Was the upgrade worth the price? Can this be done in conjunction with a Shelby Drop? Any issues with turning radius? Where did you get your kit and why did you choose that kit?

Anyways, any input on the topic would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, did you search the topic first though?
All your questions have been discussed here before, just saying...

My son used a manual R&P from Flaming River on his 66, combined with some stiff springs, I think the car handles great.

Worth the money? I think so...

I didn't mean to sound put offish, but you do ask some good familiar questions.
Some folks don't like answering multiple times, that's all.

I understand. I know that every forum has their own posting nuances. I just figured that if you are dealing with 40 year old cars, every topic has been covered at least once. So it would be nice to have a fresh conversation with people willing to discuss their experience, rather than dig up an old thread where the contributing members may not even be around any more.

I did mine in conjuction with the front end (and rear end) coil over kit from RC Motor Sports. It was about $7k for the whole kit but it make the car handle like a 2011 BMW.

As far as turning radius, it's awesome, a much better improvement as well as feedback from the tires to the steering wheel. I also think that there was a minor weight reduction as well as opening up more space on the driver side for the headers. Dump your Z-bar for a cable clutch and you'll get even more room.

If you're thinking long term about your Mustang, I would highly recommend this upgrade...as well as disc brakes, 5 speed tranny, coil over suspension....etc etc etc.....
