65 Fastback, finally one of my own
so i just got home from making a purchase, one im completely thrilled about. 65 fastback with 85' 302 engine in it, lincoln rear end, new t5 transmission, good tires. body is good, some finish work on quarters to be done. no door plate, but the original color appears to be poppy red to me. the guy wanted 11500, i got it for 9875. Personally i feel like i stole it

idk how much longer itll be on ebay, any of you know how to grab the big photo to put it on here?
also, how does one go about leading a quarter panel in? lol

ok so its been awhile since i updated this thread. I'll post pictures when i get to the garage with my digital camera lol. Here's your update:
-Media blasting!
-Front end disassembly
-found out i had a bent rear frame rail, looks like it was in a collision at some point in time. The consequence of this was i had to throw out the existing rear valence because it had been altered by the previous owner to make it fit. enter new gt rear valence...
Also previous owner had bent trunk lid hinge to make it fit properly with the bent frame rail, it has now been returned to its original dimensions.
quarter panels welded in and all-metal used to fill the gaps (quarter panel vents fitted but not installed)
-drip rails had rust
could not find drip rails for a 65 fastback, 67 drip rails bought and modified to fit original dimensions. yay drip rails
-front of door jams had rust and were previously repaired with a healthy dose of bondo
Piece replaced with new steel
-Doors sloppy
door hinges rebuilt
-bottom of both doors contained rust, drivers side had bondo and dent pulled
bottom 6" of doors removed, 8" skin bought and welded in. Gorgeous
-Crack found on drivers side rear of engine bay
welded shut dimensions of car confirmed true
-rear drivers side wheel well had big old hole in it
welded new piece in
-pin holes on rear passenger wheel well
filled
-trunk
skim coat of bondo put in, not finely finished i plan to do a more durable textured finish in the trunk
-gas tank new holes drilled to fit in bent rear end
straightened and original holes now in use
so pretty much the entire area aft of the cowl (cowl inclusive) is ready to go and covered in a coat of epoxy primer. next will be assembly of the front end and alignment to the rest of the car. I'm nearing paint phase and am looking for a shop who'll do a GT350 paint job in CT, cost is a factor at this point but i wouldn't settle for a maaco style paint job. That would just be shameful....
Also, the fiberglass hood (with metal frame) was previously painted and i was wondering from you guys what i should do. is it worth stripping down? Is there a chemical stripper that would damage the fiberglass in the process? one that wont? i also notice two bumps near the mounts for it where someone used bolts that were slightly too long (Damn them!!!) which ill have to sand true again.
final colors will be poppy red with white racing and rocker stripes.
if i think of anything i forgot ill post
Thanks
