Im a little bit confused with what you wrote so i will answer as best as i can.
Ok i will start with the crank without key. Disconnect the little wires from the solinoid and hook the battery back up. If it is still cranking then you have a bad solinoid. This is possible even with a new solinoid. If it doesnt crank with the little wires unhooked then you need to trace back to the ignition switch and shoot power into and out of it. Here is a link to a wiring diagram.

Next your new battery died over night? Did you leave a light on or do you think you have a drain on your battery?
ETA: Also tap the solinoid with a hammer and see if that causes it to stop cranking without a key, if it does stop then its a bad solinoid.

I just had to replace my solonoid as it was doing the same thing(cranking without the key turned on)....You could do a simple test with a test light and see if you have constant power at the S terminal wire even with the key off.If so you have some wiring problems or bad ignition.

A solenoid can "weld closed" right now when trying to start a car with a weak battery.
IF the starter turns when the two small wires (I & S) are off the solenoid, then for sure the issue is with the solenoid.
If the starter does NOT turn with the small wires off, and the begins turning as you hook them up then the issue is not with the solenoid.
This will be a good place to start your troubleshooting.
(if the solenoid is indeed stuck closed, a good smack will often dislodge it)
