Default Washington State Engine Rebuild Recommendations...289?

Hi All,

Looking for engine rebuilder references within Washington State, preferrably the Eastern side of the state. Looking to get our weekend cruiser rebuilt. Original 289 block. Looking for solid rebuild to last for another 200k or so.

Appreciate any recommendations you can forward.

Had my 200 i6 rebuilt by T&D Machine in Kenmore, Washington. The owners work on a crap ton of engines and have been there for quite a while, plus they are really nice and did a great job.

Of course, not on the east side though.

Where in Eastern Wa are you? I am from Moses Lake. I know there are some good places in Spokane if you are that east as well.

Thank you for replying with some shops in Washington State. I will keep the Kenmore location in mind as I wait to see if anyone recommends a shop closer to home. I am located in Wenatchee and Moses Lake would be definately be an option for me. How much work have you had done at the Moses Lake shop and why would you recommend them?

Thanks a bunch!

The shop in Moses Lake I would recommend is the Napa there. They rebuilt my 289 for me and they did an amazing job. Art, the mechanic, has been working on domestic engines before I was born and his work shows. He ported the heads so large from the stock setting, he did so to improve both horsepower and compression. The downside was it took about 3-4 months of waiting. The overall cost for a top to bottom rebuild was about $2600 so if you are looking for a budget rebuild this place is pretty affordable. You may also want to consider having the crank and flywheel balanced at the Napa in Othello, that is where I had mine done. It was a little out of the way, especially coming from Wenatchee, but I had such a positive experience I would recommend them to anyone.
