You stated that you want a daily driver. Mine is a daily driver and I obtained it in worse condition than what yours is in at present. My priorities on my car were:

1. Safety (brakes, gas, mirrors, structural integrity, handling etc)
2. Power (motor and other "fun stuff")
3. Cosmetics (outside paint and interior decor)

Waste of money. If you want to go electronic, get the Pertronix I. Installs in 10 minutes, and sells for a fraction of a new distributor.

BTW, HEI is a General Motors system, not Ford.
I paid $35 for my HEI distributor brand new and works fine. I did have to mess with it(grind it) to make it work with my weiand intake though.

Ditto, that's exactly where my priorities are. I'm just gonna be spending a bit of quality time on that roof. Holes...ew, but they aren't big, bout big enough to slide a small pen through. Either gonna JB Weld em or fiberglass, heard either would be good with bondo over it.

PS, your car is sweet lookin!

I'll see where my money situation is when I come to that point. I may go with the pertronix, but I like the HEI variant because I've worked with HEI on a 73 firebird I had a while back.

New question guys: What would be a good all around carb for the 200-300 hp range? I've got an Edelbrock 1403 (500cfm) on there now, but it needs either rebuilding or replacement. Was thinking a Holley Street Avenger 570 or 670cfm.

500-600 CFM would be fine I would think.

Ok, got the Roof rust free and primed. I found some more small holes in some old bondo on the front lower exterior of the p side door. Gonna be doin a lot of bondo/sanding in the coming weeks. One question I'd like to throw out there is why isn't there a replacement roof panel available for the Coupes? Fastbacks have them available, so whats the deal?

While waiting for the weather to warm up a little to do my bondo work, I decided to troubleshoot my fuel delivery problem. After rebuilding the Edelbrock 1403 Carb, I noticed that the fuel filter wouldn't fill up...(its the clear one). After geting it running for a minute I noticed a strong fuel smell, so shut it down. I found that fuel had made it's way into oil. So I beleive the fuel pump diaphram quit on me. Replacing that and oil today, 10w 40 ought to be allright yes?

I went with 10W-40 and after changing the oil and the fuel pump, tried to fire up, it ran briefly, then shut down. To get it started I have to spray carb cleaner in the carb bores. Every 6th or so time I do so, it stays running for about a minute, then stalls out again. What the hell?
