Default V6 Spindle vs. V8 Spindle

Is there any difference between the V6 spindle and V8 spindle on the 67 mustang? My father and I are looking into disc brake kits and keep seeing these ones that use the "stock V8 spindles." I haven't been able to find any info noting a difference.

I'm trying to sell Pops on the Granada Swap but that's another issue. lol

We'll youre probably referring to the I6 spindle, which has 4 lugs instead of the V8 spindle which has 5.

haha, memory lapse on my part. Yes, i'm referring to the I6 spindle on the front end. I thought the rotors were 5 lugs, not the spindles....

sorry I'm a bit of a newbie!

forget about the granada get this https://mustangforums.com/m_696121/tm.htm soaring you should make this web site a stickey.
these brakes are 349.00. you need a master cylinder and some other smaller parts. the total price would be around 500. I dont know if you would need the v8 spindles for these.

I have a I6 1965 that I converted to 289, and am shortly about to go through the whole process you are in the middle of right now, I am just opting to keep my old 6cyl disc brakes that work fine until I get enough money to do the wheels and brakes all at once...

I had always operated under the assumption that the 6 cyl spindles are smaller than the 8 cyl spindes. For one thing, they wouldn't make a distinction between 8 and 6 spindles if they were all the same size, they would just be 'spindles' as far as the shop manual goes. Also, they hold 4 lug wheels, which are just less beefy all around for the I6 cars. Plus, whole coil spring et al. is distinguished as different for the 6 cyl car...I never bothered to check if they were the same, just replaced all 6 cyl components with 8 cyl. (except for my wheels, brakes, and spindles which will be next)

Bottom line though, if you are going to spend the money to replace your drums with disc brakes, get new spindles. Yours probably would warrant replacing even if they were 8cyl...if the wheel bearing has had a bad packing of grease around it and been driven, or been loose and been driven which is likely on cars as old as ours, they are probably scored, deteriorated, etc .....I originally intended to find some from the junkyard to replace mine, but had little luck in finding a good matching set, so I decided that if I am gonna spend 500 or more on brakes, its definitely worth it to have new spindles. I like the products Willwood sells....check into it. Many brake kits make you use their spindles anyway.

I know, it sucks, but if you are gonna do it, do it right
