1968 Mustang Overheat 302
 

I recently purchased a 1968 For Mustang Coupr with a 302 Engine. I recently replaced the starter once I drove it to base the engine overheated and the radiator dumped out coolant last night. I just changed the thermostat and radiator fluid but it still over heats steadily I currently have an electric fan that I turn on but it's not helping however when I drive around that seems to prevent the overheating slightly. Any help would be appreciated.

take the radiator cap off and turn the key does it shoot coolant out of the radiator?? how does the radiator fluid look? how does the oil do either look like a milk shake?

It doesn't shoot coolant out but white smoke is coming out? Is that possibly a head gasket? The oil looks good.

its possible...but its also pretty cool out sure its steam(white smoke) and not grey(running overly rich)

White smoke. I just flushed the radiator and I may not have put enough coolant I can't see it from the cap

You need to fill, start the car, turn heater on high, and once it's at normal running temp, make sure you see coolant flowing, and when you rev it coolant should rush past faster. Make sure you have a coolant over flow container hooked up.

might have just had some air in the cooling system

I'm having problems starting th engine in the cold I heard this is a common issue with older V8s is there anything I can do to counteract this problem?

make sure the carb is adjusted properly, proper timing for the dizzy, choke functioning etc
