Default Kick down questions

I have a 66 289 mustang and when i got it i was told the kick down was missing linkage i looked under the hood and sure enough it is i can see the cable wrapped around the arm on the transmission i was planing to hook it up but had a few questions.

1.) would this create a problem at freeway speeds?

2.) does it not being hooked up cause any problems besides slow acceleration?

3.) i dont see any of the linkage next to the carburetor would this be hard to set up?

Not until you try to pass a slow-moving truck.

2.) does it not being hooked up cause any problems besides slow acceleration?
I would consider having a Mustang that's way, way slower than it should be to be a major problem.

3.) i dont see any of the linkage next to the carburetor would this be hard to set up?
The 66 kickdown has nothing to do with the carburetor.

The 66-68 V8 used the cable pull type.

Default Rephrase

let me rephrase my first question. would having my kick down hooked up cause a problem on the freeway? (would it down shift going 70 + and would that mess anything up) and it seems like the kick down arm is missing off of my my pedal pivot rod it looks like it broke off i can see the weld but thats it.

The kick down is only the downshift when you give it gas like to pass. It shouldn't down shift for no reason on the highway.
