You're asking for a lot on a budget. You can have everything you ask for, but you're going to pay for it. FPA and Doug's headers are top quality; they'll fit perfectly, will sit above the frame rails, won't blow out exhaust gaskets, and will keep underhood temps down. But...they're expensive. That's just how it is.

You don't want the exhaust pipes under the fuel tank. Aside from the fact that there's just not much clearance there, they will heat things up. Maybe not enough to cause spontaneous combustion, but at least enough to cause some serious boiling of the fuel in the tank. Keep them at the sides where they belong.

You might want to check into the 69-70 shelbys and see what sort of exhaust setup they had..They had a centered rear exit.

So it looks like I'm gonna go with tri-y's or keep the manifolds. If I find a good deal on a set of FPA's, JBA, or Doug's maybe I'll go that route. No input on cutouts? Or pricing?

Yes, most of the side exits were track cars by then IIRC. A buddy has a 65 GT350 and his supposedly had them originally, some did some didnt I guess.

@Coupe: Do you know which buyer from ebay you used?
And I like the look of the Tony Branda tri-y's, but they don't make any for 69' models.

Using summit I think I have narrowed down my header choices:

What's the consensus on this thermal coating? How does it compare to ceramic coating? I'm leaning towards the second option.
