Volume is with Custom Autosound 66 Mustang radio USA-66
 

I have had this radio for several years now (maybe 6) and it works okay except for the volume issue. I normal flip between my mp3 player and radio when I am driving. What is annoying is that the volume on the radios lowest setting is too loud and the ipod/mp3 connection is too quiet.

What I would do is during radio mode, I would switch the fader part way to the rear speakers (of which I had none). This worked okay until I decided to install a second set of speakers into the OEM spot on the dash (kick panels for my primary speakers). So I can't do that anymore. So at stop lights with my windows down, I shut the radio off so other cars don't have to enjoy my music.

I have had 3 different ipods/mp3 players over the years, and they all must be at full volume on the player and the radio turned to almost full volume to get it to be heard.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? Also, is there something I can do as in take this radio apart and adjust something to balance this problem out.

I bought this radio within the first 2 or 3 months when they were introduced so I might have one of the early ones with issues. I was deployed at the time I bought it so I didn't install for about 6 months or longer, so I figured calling the company would not be much help.

sound like you need a line driver to the aux input of the radio.The input sentivity is too low and probably has no way of adjusting it.

Yeah, I figured someone would have the same issue. It is just odd to have 2 problems exactly the opposite of each other.

I imagining, not addressing this issue saved the manufacturer about $5 per radio.

Besides, why bother fixing the Ipod port? Hardly a customer will ever plug one of these things in anyway.... (So they said 7 years ago when they designed the radio... ) :D

Since you are using the 1/8" headphone jack of the MP3/iPod you will always lose volume. I don't know if there is a way to get line level out of the MP3/iPod, but that should solve the problem. Or maybe I'm just full of it .....

I am actually alright with the line level of the ipod/mp3 player. The problem is more the fact the radio tuner portion is so loud at it's lowest setting. I have eliminated my way of turning it down when I installed the second set of speakers.

This is incorrect.When using the docking port, its a fixed level output, with NO adjustment.The 1/8th output is the better option for output in this case.

I am using the 1/8 headphone adapter that came with the radio.
