What do I do? There is a number on the key, can I get another? where do I do that if I don't know what brand it was? Do I have to wait until it's together to take it to a shop?

I think going forward they can steal the damn wheel, I assume taking the car is easier than taking the wheels, I knew when I bought it I should have removed them.


Any help is appreciated.

I guess now that I have a mig I could weld on a nut and try that.
I also saw someone have a socket pounded on the nut.

hmm, I do have a ton of extra sockets I could also weld, that is if steel under so I could tack.

Take it to a tire shop, they have a tool that bites onto the outside of the nut and takes it off.

This is your cheapest option now that you have the welder.

You could get a set of bolt extrators for about $20-$30 and it will take the lug nut off, plus you could use them for other rusted bolts and nuts.

Or if you have access to the lug stud from behind, grind the head down that holds it to the hub and pop it out the other end (rim side) with an awl and a hammer. Replace the stud and buy a new lug.

Less likely to ruin the rim.

Try driving an old socket up on that nut... chances are fair that this will get it done.

If this wont work, they make socket for this express purpose, they don't cost a fortune. I bought an SK set a few years ago, they work great unless the nut is recessed in a narrow hole...

you can also try to hammer on a socket. That is what i did and it worked. never could get the nut out of the socket though
