'65 power steering control valve rebuild info/input?
Hey again all. Gonna pick your brains again and see if anyone could point me in the right direction. I've got a power steering control valve that has failed miserably. Needs more than the $25 rebuild kit. Anyone have a local shop that might rebuild these? No one locally here rebuilds and I just can't spend the 400 bucks on a new one right now. I'm thinking that shipping it and having it rebuilt would have to be a money saver. Thoughts? Ideas? Love hearing what you guys have to say!
As always, thanks in advance

It will take a leap of faith on your part, but, if you bundle it up and ship it, I will rebuild for $25.00 plus the cost of parts. You pay the shipping. I used to own a restoration/repair facility for 20 years, and I have rebuilt dozens. I will need the control valve, the center link, both short hoses, the pressure line and the return line. My option to replace the hoses if I think they need replacing. You can also send the slave cylinder, and I will assemble everything for you to simply bolt the system back into the car, if you wish.

Al i need to rebuild the one I have as well. once I do should all the slop be gone out of it. I have about a 1/8 turn from side to side before the steering kicks in. I have narrowed it down to the valve. A assume it needs the play until it has pressuer, then it should go away?

If the 1/8 turn is with the motor off, that is pretty normal. In addition, the steering gear box will have some play in it. If the free play is more than 1/8 turn with the engine running, most probably the steering gear box is the culprit.
