I think thats a good deal, if it hasn't had a rebuild yet.

$200 aint much, is it running, biggest fear would have to be a cracked head/block

I see forged pistons, were they running FI (forced induction) ? What kind of compression?

That's pretty good for short block. Look for scoring in the cylinder wall. If you see any gouges the block is most likely toast unless you have it bored and sleeved. Gouging could be caused by a catastrophic piston failure from really high compression or FI ((turbo, nitrous, supercharger, etc).

Also, take a straight edge and lay it accross the cylinder deck to check for warping.

I paid $300 for a 1990 302ho short block, then put another $1000 into machine work and balancing. Then dropped.....damn who knows for a custom cam, TFS heads, chromolly rockers, etc etc etc.

Go for it, if you can get away with a slight hone you have a great base to build on top of.

Yup yup good deal. I paid $400. in North Carolina for a 94 block out of a cobra (is there a difference?)...just the block....

I paid $300 for an 03-04 Cobra block. Definitely check for scoring and warpage though.
