Default Gas pedal linkage, pedal, hesitation/sticking

Okay, below is the picture of the 69 mustang gas Pedal. Look a the area that the bent metal bar goes through the clamp.

My pedal has gap between the connector areas and it can float left/right. This one is tight to the mount/bushings.

So, my pedal is smooth when car is off and in neutral. But when I drive it, the first part of the pedal there is this stick point. So, when driving normal, non partially aggressive, there is this stick/dead point.

Now, before I buy a full $75 pedal, is there anything that I should look at? I would say it's the issue with the part that goes through the mount if it wasn't so smooth when not driving. I have a feeling that if it's not the way it looks here in the pic, I have to suck it up and buy it set up right. But I wanted to exhaust options.

I had the same problem, but I figured out that the linkage was the issue. It was to tight on the pedal rod and to tight on the carb. Maybe try adjusting the linkage before spending the money? Just a thought.

Thanks, will give it a try. The linkage at the pedal is non adjusting but I will look at the carb when I get it back on Thur. I can't remember the full set up there.
