C-4 trans 2-3 shft ?

Default C-4 trans 2-3 shft ?

got a C4 in my 65 mustang conv.V-8.Its got a lazy 2-3 shift.any body know if this could be a easy fix.pull away very easy,shifts good.pull away little hard,slips in the 2-3 shift.did the modulator.no help.

Check the adjustment on the band. 10lb ft. and backoff 1 3/4. Most likely loose.

did the band adjustment.helped just a little.2-3 band is the front one.wright?

Yes. If that helped, you might want to check the low-rev. band too. Same thing, 10ft lbs but back out 3 turns. Sounds like a rebuild is due soon, sorry!

I am thinking changing the fluid.I heard if the wrong fluid is in there could have problems.I got a case of ford type F fluid.Cant hurt to try.

Not to bear sad tidings but it could be the intermediate band and clutches are at end of life, or the Governor or intermediate servo are sticking. The later two are easy to do with the trans in the car. The bands clutches are not. Don't forget to drain the torque converter too. Type F should be used if that's what you've been running.
