Default Oil Drip Issue - breather - pvc

So I run a PVC valve on the passenger side valve cover and then my oil cap is a breather on the driver side. I think some oil splash is coming up into the cap and then dripping out through the holes on the bottom and cookin on my exhaust manifold so I was thinking of replacing it with this and running a tube away from the manifold.

1) Do I need a breather cap since I have a PVC valve?
2) If I run the tube away and down will it cease to work as a decent breather

That cap won't work with origional style valve covers. You need a screw in type breather. Use a filtered breather or hook that tube where it is supposed to be, on the air filter housing.
The purpose of a breather is that it lets fresh air into the crankcase after the PCV sucks out the bad air and gasses. If your breather is clogged, pressure builds up in the crankcase, the PCV can't suck the bad gasses out and oil is spewed out of the breather.

I have aftermarket covers but it sounds like I should clear the filter on my exisiting breather or get the one I listed so when it does build up it drips somewhere convenient.

Check your PCV valve too, it also should be getting vacuum from the base of the carb.
But more likely the breather is clogged with oil and gunk.

Any advice on to what to clean it out with as some residue will end up back in the engine?

Unless you need the origional, just buy a new one, they're around $10 or so.

I guess you could soak it in carb cleaner and let it dry out.
If it's a filtered cap (no hose), just buy a new one.
