Power steering belt. I'm just gonna cut it
 
1967 mustang my power steering unit is messed up. And the bolt is stuck I just wanna cut to
See if that's the problem. Bad idea?

nope...the steering wheel will be a little harder to turn...i deleted the power steering in my 65

Then you can get the PS to MS drag link conversion. Its about 50 bucks and bolts onto the end of the drag link. I would do this a soon as possible if you decide to not run PS anymore as it will reduce slop in the system.

I guess you could cut it off but it just seems a little barbaric.

Why don't you just loosen the pump up a little and slide it off?

Hi,
Heat and or rust solvent. One or the other depending on safety concerns.
BTW, my PWR steering pump bearing locked while on a roadie. I ended up cutting the belt to make it home. Yes, the steering requires additional effort. Eventually, I eliminated the power steering system completely.
